Paying
Which mobile money networks can I use?+
M-Pesa, Mixx by Yas (formerly Tigo Pesa), Airtel Money and HaloPesa for orders inside Tanzania. M-Pesa and Airtel Money also work for Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. You pay from your own handset and send us the confirmation.
Can I pay by card?+
Yes — Visa and Mastercard. We send a secure payment link on WhatsApp within the hour of your order. The card is charged by our payment provider; no card number is ever typed into this website and we never see or store one.
Am I charged when I place the order?+
No. Placing an order gives you a reference and nothing else. You pay afterwards, by whichever method you chose, and we confirm stock once the money lands.
Can I pay on delivery?+
Not currently. For Dar es Salaam you can choose Pay in store instead — we hold the pieces for three days so you can try them on and pay at the counter.
Why are prices in Tanzanian shillings?+
Because that is what we bank in and what the workshops are paid in. You can switch the display to another currency at the top of any page, but the conversion is indicative and the order is settled in shillings.
Sizing & fit
What size am I?+
Take your bust, waist and hip and read them off the size guide — it converts to UK, EU, US and IT. If you are between two sizes, take the larger for anything fitted or rigid and the smaller for knitwear.
Do you make to measure?+
For some pieces, yes. Message us with the style and your measurements and we will tell you whether the workshop can cut it and what it adds to the price and the wait. Made-to-measure pieces cannot be returned.
How do I know if it will run small?+
Every product page carries a fit meter built from customer reviews, and reviewers give their height and the size they took. That is usually a better guide than the chart.
Delivery & returns
How long does delivery take?+
One to two working days in Dar es Salaam, three to six upcountry, and four to fourteen across the rest of Africa depending on the country. Every destination and cost is listed on the delivery page.
Can I return something?+
Yes — 14 days from delivery, unworn and with tags on. Exchanges within Tanzania are free and we pay the courier both ways.
Do you deliver outside Africa?+
Yes, by DHL Express. Duties and import taxes are billed to you directly by DHL and are not included in what you pay us.
The clothes
Where are they made?+
Three workshops — two in Dar es Salaam, one in Nairobi. We name all of them and can tell you which one cut any piece in the catalogue.
Why do things sell out?+
Every style is made in a run of a few hundred and then retired. If something has gone, ask us — occasionally there is one left in the store.
How do I look after wax print?+
Cold hand wash, separately for the first three washes, line dry in shade and iron on the reverse. Wax print gives up a lot of dye early and then settles.
